Earth Sun Sky Cloud 1&2

Day Viewing
During the day, with the sound of the open desert, a pair of screen mesh sculptures with mirror cores activated at precise angles at sunrise and sunset. The mirrored sky reflects the sun creating a void into unknown worlds. Activation occurs when the body finds the light and accepts this transference of energy.

Night Viewing
A round mirror sits in the middle of a vast cloud of screen mesh, attached to the outside of a shed in the Antelope Hills of Marfa. Kaleidoscopic strobing video images - a looping sequence of Mazurek’s paintings and other visuals controlled by a sound recording of his music - play across the irregular contours of the assemblage, transforming the heaped fabric into an intricate, churning light cave. At its heart the mirror, which is deflected at an angle and so appears at first like a dead spot or hole in the wall, depending on the time of day or night - reflecting only the changing light of the sky and stars, and the rising moon and sun amid the swirling cacophony of light and blinking images. - Mark So

Vying for Eternal Grace
Four large scale paintings on canvas using marking paint as its basic material. The traffic light colors gesture: push forward, stop or pause. The safety paint, used in playgrounds, parking lots, and public spaces, hints at the banal nature of rituals performed in everyday life.
The back of a headless figure progresses in four scenes which play out cinematically in slow motion. Each painting frames a moment in battle beginning with active repose, then first attack, engagement in battle and ultimate decimation. The figure comes before action, but what remains after the battle has been transformed.
